This summer of Wednesday Night Verses at Bohemian Caverns has been nothing short of amazing. The amount of talent, the packed rooms, and just genuine jamming out has been one for the books. This Wednesday should be no different. I know many of your are back on your school grind, but if you can, please come out and support! Terrence Cunningham just featured in Richmond’s Well Versed, and if you’ve been on my blog, you should be VERY familiar with the boys of Brokn.Englsh. If you’ve rocked with the few songs of theirs that I featured, you should DEFINITELY come to see them live!
I’m so excited to see Flo perform tonight!! Her voice makes you want to throw things (in a good way). If you’re free, you need to be here!!
Please refer to this video to understand exactly WHY you need to be at Verses tomorrow!
It’s been a year since my last big poetry feature and I’m really excited about this one. Last year, a dear friend gave me an opportunity to share my voice. She allowed me, a relatively unknown poet to have a platform to share and express my words and my heart and it felt good. I’ve grown a lot since then; I’ve tuned into who I am as a creative and am continuing to cultivate my crafts.
This year, I’m proud to say that I’ve written a few more pieces (I’ve also developed their sound), and I’ve done the occasional live painting. All of this will be on display on June 29, 2011 at my Wednesday night “get-right”. Check the flyer for deets. Hope you can make it.
**FINGERS CROSSED** I’m hoping to have prints of the featured paintings for sale. I will keep you posted.
*Besos*
Since I’ve lived in the DMV (Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia) I’m happy to say that I’ve witnessed some very talented artists, singers, musicians, and poets. The dopeness of David James is no exception. Lead singer of the hip hop alternative soul band Ndelible (and Verses fam), James has the gift of vocalizing the human emotion in a very raw yet melodic way (think John Legend, John Mayer, with a hint of Dave Matthews?). I’ve heard Ndelible perform in different spots around the city and can say that I’m never disappointed and am most definitely a fan! If you’re in the area, you should check him out tonight at Wednesday Night Verses. Watch the videos (the second one features the lovely Ari Lennox, another gem of the DMV), download his band’s latest mixtape, Mammoth, and thank me for sharing the musical goodness.
